ASPHALT ROOFING

THE BENEFITS OF MULTI-PLY ROOFING SYSTEMS

Multi-layered roofing systems are a proven protectant that offer superior durability, and longevity for your business. Rather than applying a single membrane to your roof, multi-ply systems are applied in layers, or multiple plies. These added layers offer additional protection and are composed of asphalt products, which are a natural water repellent. Should an upper layer suffer damage, the additional layers will help minimize leaks and damage until repairs can be made. Multi-ply systems provide a durable surface, ideal for roofs with mechanical equipment, solar panels, and foot traffic.

Built Up Roof System

Comprised of multiple layers of asphalt and fiberglass mats or felt, a Built Up Roof system, or BUR, is a popular asphalt roofing system that works with a variety of different property applications. The layers of felt and asphalt provide a durable exterior, protecting your property from water and extreme weather. A top layer of stone aggregate offers an additional layer of protection to the system. BUR systems have been used for many years and are a time tested solution.

Modified Bitumen Roof System

Similar to a BUR system, a Modified Bitumen system is made up of asphalt sheets with modifiers to increase flexibility and are reinforced with polyester or fiberglass matting, increasing the strength of the system and making it more durable than the BUR roofing method. These systems can be applied with either hot or cold asphalt adhesive. The top layer will have a granular layer or acrylic coating to protect the roof system from UV and increase reflectivity, reducing heating and cooling costs.
